Scientific and research activity

In the field of science, scientific and research activities, the employees of the Department of Applied Mechanics and Robotics conduct research in the field of autonomous robotics. In the process of designing the production and control of a mechatronic product, the analysis of construction, simulation and technological solutions already at the design stage becomes more and more important, allowing to obtain a better product in a shorter time and at lower costs. Currently, the following tasks are carried out: research on the modeling and control of manipulators and robots, research on the programming of ABB, Festo and AmigoBot robots as well as research on manipulators that can be used in rehabilitation, research on mobile inspection robots. Autonomous dynamical systems are of technical interest resulting from practical applications in production, construction, construction, transport, agriculture, space exploration, deep sea penetration, aids for the disabled, medical surgery and other sectors of science and technology. Research directions in the field of science and research activities constitute a further development of the area of mechatronics, computer science, autonomous robotics and artificial intelligence. They are in line with the goals set for the information society and belong to the priority research directions in the field of information technologies.

Meeting the educational needs of higher education, inspired by the Department's employees in the academic year of 2009/2010, a new field of study was launched at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics - Mechatronics with a specialization in Computer Science and Robotics. The proposed course teaches the implementation of modern technologies, the use of robots, and the application of computer science in various fields of technology.

The activities of the Department are in line with the strategy of building a lasting partnership between scientific units and industry, increasing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises through the introduction of modern technologies and the development of employees' skills in the field of research and innovation. It contributes to an increase in employment of highly qualified staff and enables wider cooperation between manufacturers of modern technology devices and science centers.
